We understand the importance of these personal letters and make every effort to process and dispatch letters within 24 hours of receipt on all working days and on the subsequent working day in case of Sundays and public holidays. Delivery of mail sent through Indian Postal service is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays or loss. And in such cases there is nothing much we can do about it, except resend a letter if it gets lost in postal transit or gets unduly delayed. Customers are also requested to ensure that you furnish the recipient's complete address correctly with PINCODE to ensure delivery on time. Letters sent without the Indian PINCODE are more likely to get delayed or lost. However we track your mail till it is dispatched and if it has not reached the recipient, you may request for a re-delivery of the same mail within 15 days of the first dispatch. More often than not, folks back in India send the letters that are meant for you to a wrong postal address in India or send it with insufficient or incorrect details (Sign-In Email and PIN no.) due to which we may be unable to trace the letter to you. Hence you are advised to educate the people in India who are likely to send/receive letters from you on these aspects to avoid delays and loss of mail. We understand the importance of privacy of your personal letters and hence all letters are handled very discreetly with utmost care. No personnel is permitted to read through letters except in case our software detects a spam / junk or bulk mail that is not in keeping with the letter and spirit of this mail service or contains vulgar content which is not permissible under the terms of this service. Letters once sent are disposed off appropriately within the specified time mentioned to maintain the privacy of users. Hence we may not be able to retrieve a very old letter sent by you as it is likely to have been destroyed / deleted after the stipulated time. You are requested to store all mail that is relevant and important to you for future use by appropriate means. For Old users of Bharatmail who may find it difficult to explain the change to folks back home, we will continue to offer them the facility to send letters to us with your old 'Bharatmail' username too for the sake of simplicity and convenience. The idea behind this service is to enable simple and easy personal communication between people overseas and their folks back in India, despite the Digital Divide.
